I haven’t blogged about Potty Training Spud for a while because it was all going pretty much the same. When I went to stay at my parents house for three weeks we did hit a few hurdles and started getting poo hysteria. He started having wet accidents a lot more and he would go and hide and then be devastated when he pooed in his pants, even if they were Pull Ups.
When we got home the accidents stopped and we seemed to jump that last hurdle and be well on the way to being fully potty trained. Within a few hours he took himself off to the potty and came to get me saying he had done a poo. Low and behold there it sat in the potty! He had a HUGE smile on his face and there was lots of high fives, kisses and stickers! After that breakthrough Spud would take himself off to the toilet whenever he needed a poo. He obviously wants privacy because he never asks me to take him, yet he will always ask me to take him for a wee.

Where on earth has this weather come from?! Just as we had all dug out our big chunky knit cardigans and accepted the fact that it was tights and boots for the next few months, the sun makes a scorching appearance! Luckily I hadn’t gotten around to packing away the Summer clothes so both boys went back into shorts and ti shirts. After their nap both woke up a little sweaty. Spike was so sweaty that his hair looked like he had just gotten out of the bath! Not long after the woke up we got everything ready and went to the park.

Spud, my independent little boy, gives cuddles on his terms. If he doesn’t want a cuddle and a kiss then tears and tantrums will ensue soon after. He has always been a child that wants to be doing his own thing and even as a baby would push himself away from me to get on with what he wanted to do. It did make my life quite easy, I didn’t had a baby that wouldn’t leave my side and I could get on with anything without worrying about him being clingy or demanding attention. Sometimes it made me sad, I wanted a cuddles! Occasionally he would sit down for a nice cuddle and I would treasure those moments. My Mum also wanted a cuddly Grandson and would irritate him something rotten forcing him to cuddle her. As he got older cuddles became more frequent but still only when he wanted them. Ever since he was small if he hurts himself or is in a bad mood because he is tired, then Mummy has always been his first choice. Daddy rarely gets a look in when he is upset and even his beloved Pops plays second fiddle. To some extent he is a Mummy’s boy.

We’ve all been there, stood with other mothers with children of similar ages competing for the best/most advanced child. Competitive parents are what put me off most baby groups. With Spud I would leave a baby group and get straight on to the health visitor because he wasn’t talking like the other babies or sleeping like them. I was constantly reassured that he was fine and that because he was so advanced physically, I couldn’t expect him to excel in all areas – he wasn’t super-baby and “no two babies are the same.”

We are still testing the Mamas and Papas Urbo for MumPanel and it came with us on our holiday to Nana and Pop’s house!
We managed to fit the Urbo, my Baby Jogger City Mini and the Cosatto You2 in the boot as well as our wedding attire and enough stuff to last us 2 weeks. I was mightily impressed!

We have some more exciting events to go to in London so after the Wedding at the weekend the boys and I stayed at my parents house. The Hubby had to go back to work so left us on Monday afternoon which was a huge downer after such a good weekend. This time Spud seems to have accepted that Spike belongs to Nana and Pops as well and that he has to share them because he has been super lovely to him. He has been giving a lot of kisses and cuddles as well as sharing toys. Then yesterday Continue reading “Another week at Nana’s!” »
