Just another manic Monday

Written by Lauren. Posted in General

I had big plans for an awesome post for today but have spent the past few hours (the only time I get to draft or write a post without being interrupted!) trying to get my Blog back to normal.  We got hacked.  I was so angry this morning, how dare some stupid immature being invade my blog and mess everything up?!  The page that was left in replacement of mine was ridiculous, there was even a made up rap song.  Hacking a small personal blog is so far from pointless it’s unreal.  It’s not like it caused that much disruption, it just caused my wonderful friend (Karina from Mum’s The Nerd) a lot of work trying to fix things and then me a couple of hours putting things back together.  It’s not like I am a huge corporation and it’s caused utter havoc.  Go and practice somewhere else you imbecile! Grrr anyway rant over. Yesterday was Father’s day and even though I was reminded the night before I forgot to get Spud to write the card!  We literally dumped Spike on Daddy at 7am (no lie In’s in this house!) and ran to the car where the card and present were stashed.  Trying to get a 2 year old to scribble in a card when there are more interesting things to play with, like windscreen wipers, is not an easy task! He ran back to the house with the bag of goodies and saw the Hubby in the kitchen making a brew, he sprinted as fast as he could shouting “DADDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEEEE!” and basically threw the things at him.  I was stood at the end of the hall cringing, knowing that there was a very breakable mug in the bag!  The Hubby was pleased with his treats and due to financial constraints (aka we are skint this month!) his biggest gift was not having to do anything all day long.  Unfortunately for him, he ended up cooking our roast.  Little requests from me like “Please put the pots on boil at twenty two” soon turned into “Can you get the chicken out, carve it, oh and serve it whilst you’re there!” whilst I sat playing with looking after the boys! We went for a lovely family walk afterwards which we do every weekend in the woods behind our house which leads me to leaving you with a lovely photo of Spud being inquisitive- I just love how exciting and interesting the small and simple things in the world are to the little people in my life.

Review – Sarah’s Nappy Cakes

I was given a gorgeous blue “My Favourite Things” themed Nappy cake as a gift when I was pregnant with Spike. I was thrilled and in my hormonal state shed a little tear! These are an absolutely lovely gift for a mum-to-be. It is practical without looking and feeling like it’s not a luxury gift – I have used everything that came in my nappy cake over the past 6 months and every time I went to use something I was reminded of the lovely gift that I had received. There are different size cakes available for different prices varying from £10-£45. Obviously the more money you spend the bigger it is and the more goodies that it comes with. They start at “small one tier” and go right through to “Giant.”  The smallest comes with little bits like an 8oz bottle, face cloths shaped like roses and dummies or a dummy and clip, where as the biggest comes with things like a lip balm for Mum, 3 pairs socks, brush and comb, shower gel for Mum, shampoo for baby, bubble bath for baby, nappy cream for baby, shower scrub for mum, 3 pairs of tights, and a pair of shoes.  (Those are just examples and products may vary)  There is also a “Bespoke” option which allows you to divert from the standard pink, blue or neutral and have a specific theme and products to suit your needs. If you choose this option it also comes with a bespoke price tailored specifically for you.

I received a “Bespoke large tier.” My nursery theme was from the Toys R Us range “My Favourite Things” so I was really touched that a lot of thought had been put into it and that I had goodies that tied in with my own tastes. Because the products were Pampers and Toys R Us the quality was outstanding and put together in this way made them look fantastic and well worth the money. I was given a lot of size 3 nappies (a great size because it allows for bigger babies or can be saved for later) socks, booties, scratch mitts, dummies and a cup all of which were extremely useful.

Here are just a few examples of what Sarah’s Nappy Cakes has to offer:

I was not asked by Sarah’s Nappy Cakes to write a review. The product was a gift that I received from a friend. This post is my own honest opinion. For more information please see our Disclosure Policy.

Silly mummy!

What a cruddy day! The weather is awful AGAIN. It looks and feels like we are in November not June! It was a day inside for us today. We were playing trains all morning (one of Spud’s favourite past times!) We had a yummy omelet lunch and the boys both went for naps in their beds, pretty mundane stuff to blog about really! I decided that Saturday should be my day off from housework so started cracking on with the Blog due to our address change. About an hour later Spike decided he wanted to get up so I had him sat in the bumbo on the table chomping on teethers (I’m a slave driver!) He loved being at that height and I was actually able to get things done! Usually I have to wait until they are both in bed at night to get anything productive done. I was tickling his feet and singing songs to him whilst he laughed his little head off! I did get caught on camera being silly though! Fingers crossed that the little blighter starts sleeping properly, we have had a few very rough nights and I think the Hubby is ecstatic to be going back to work on Monday!! He has been waking as we have been going up to bed so last night we went up in the dark, on tippie toes only to discover that Spud’s blind had fallen down! There we were at 11pm in the pitch black trying to put a roller blind up quietly. It’s safe to say we failed. Both boys ended up wide awake. Spud just looked at us like we were crazy and rolled over. If only Spike was that easy!
