Review – Schwarzkopf Supersoft Kids

Written by Lauren. Posted in Health & Beauty, Reviews

With the launch of the new Smurfs movie Spud has gone Smurf crazy.  He sees the advert on the TV and goes absolutely bananas at the little blue creatures.  In conjunction with the launch Schwarzkopf Supersoft Kids have released a brand new 2 in 1 shampoo and detangling spray.

When we were offered the chance to review I jumped at the chance purely because of the word Smurf!  When the products arrived Spud was ecstatic and immediately asked for a bath even though it was 10am.  The packaging is brightly coloured with hair washing Smurfs decorating the label.   They have released two ‘flavours’ – Strawberries and Milk and Tropical.  We were sent the Strawberries and Milk variety and I had noticed the lovely smell as soon as I had opened the flap on the envelope.  I managed to persuade Spud to wait until his actual bath time and when the time came he launched himself into the bath shouting about strawberry smurfs!

The 2 in 1 shampoo contains an intensive care vitamin complex that has a mild formulation to gently cleanse and strengthen children’s hair.  It has the standard Supersoft kids double anti tear effect formula that is skin friendly and ends the hair washing dramas caused by product going into eyes.  We opened the bottle and took a whiff.  It smells so nice that Spud started licking his lips.  He was a little bit concerned that it was red but let me put some onto his hair anyway.  He had great fun rubbing it into his hair as it lathers up nicely.  It took a fair bit of rinsing but I did use a bit too much for his tiny amount of hair.  Once he was out of the bath and had dry hair he smelt so delectable that during our quiet time I spent most of Meercat Manor sniffing his hair!

We also received the Strawberry and Milk detangling spray for use after washing.  It aids easy combing and creates super smooth hair without any tugging or pulling with the comb.  It also contains the intensive care vitamin complex and mild formulas to strengthen and care for children’s hair.  I realised with his short hair that perhaps detangling spray wasn’t the best idea for Spud to test so I drafted in my friend and her daughter (who has gorgeous long hair) to help us test it and gave them a go with the shampoo as well.

Vikki says:

“When we told Gracie that we were using a new special shampoo, she was very excited.  Imagine her face when she then saw the brightly packaged Smurf adorned bottle.  We then had a sniff and can sum it up with one word – Gorgeous.  After dinner we had some down time and then when I announced it was it was bath time she jumped for joy!  Once in the bath she made me wash her straight away.  This never happens.  She was a bit confused when it came out red, but that soon passed when I told it had to be red because it was made with  strawberries.  As i was washing I could tell straight away that it was making her hair softer and she also joined in with the washing!  It took a lot of rinsing but this was probably down to me using to much, you really do only need a little bit!  Once rinsed it looked and smelled lovely!!  When we got out of the bath it was time to use the detangling spray.  Like the shampoo it smells lovely and easily spritzed onto her hair.   Once it was blow dried the end result was amazing, beautiful soft and silky hair!  We will definitely be using this product again. I had never thought to use a 2 in 1 shampoo on Gracie before, now i’m wondering why it took me so long!!”

Supersoft Kids 2in1 shampoo & conditioners and detangling sprays are priced at RRP: £1.73 each.

Review – E45 Junior

Written by Lauren. Posted in Health & Beauty, Reviews

I have mentioned before that Spud suffers from dry scaly skin.  It’s only a mild form of Eczema but coupled with a Lavender allergy it makes shopping for bath products quite difficult.

The experts at E45 have launched a perfume free, soap free range of 3 products that are suitable from 12 months.  They are fun to use and kind to sensitive skin.

Spud was extremely excited when I showed him that we had some funky new products to use at bath time.  The Foaming Bath Milk has two layers which require a good mixing so Spud shook the bottle to within an inch of it’s life and excitedly watched as we poured it under the running water.  He squealed when the bubbles started frothing up and couldn’t wait for the bath to finish running.  I didn’t notice that the bath water had gone very murky until after I had put Spud in so I desperately tried to think what on earth he could have done that day to get so dirty when the Hubby pointed out that it was probably the bath milk that had made it cloudy!

We moved on to the Hand and Body Wash which Spud loved due to the funky use of multicoloured beads.  They contain a rich mineral oil that gently cleans the skin without drying it out.  He loved seeing the beads on his skin and even helped to rub them in.  We use it as a hand wash now that we are potty training and he doesn’t need to be asked to wash his hands anymore!

We managed to persuade Spud to get out of the bath using the use of the Moisturising Lotion as bribery.  He decided it was his special cream and loved helping me rub it in.  It’s non greasy and effortlessly glides onto his skin.  It is a fantastic range that Spud and his skin both love.

E45 Junior have partnered with Great Ormond Street Hospital to raise money for the charity from every product in the E45 Junior range.  10p from every sale will be donated over the next 18 months.

E45 Junior have teamed up with Peppa Pig, who are partnered with Tommy’s, and are holding Bubble Bashes throughout the year.  Information on the Bubble Bashes and how to host your own Bubble Bash can be found on the website as well as numerous games and activities to entertain little Peppa Pig fans.

Thinking Slimmer – The Chocoholic Cure

Written by Lauren. Posted in Health & Beauty, Reviews, Thinking Slimmer

A few weeks ago I wrote a post introducing you to Thinking Slimmer.  It has been 21 days since I started my Chocoholics Slimpod which claimed it would cure my chocolate addiction.  I will admit I was sceptical.  I ate chocolate like it went out of fashion.  I would go to a shop and spend roughly £5 a time and eat it in a day, even though sometimes it didn’t get close to satisfying the craving.

About 10 days after starting the Slimpod I realised that I hadn’t eaten any chocolate for a couple of days and that I had a bag of M&M’s in my bedroom that had been there for over 24 hours.  It was a bit of a shock so I reached for the M&M’s to calm myself down.  After about 2 mouthfuls I sealed the bag and put them in my drawer.  I have never not finished chocolate but I just didn’t fancy it.  That bag of M&M’s lasted me 5 days.

At around about day 17 my Mum mentioned to me that I had lost a fair bit of weight so I should go and weigh myself.  I stepped hesitantly onto the scales and looked down.  I nearly fell off them!  In 17 days I had lost a whopping 11lb!  After I had Spud the weight I had gained did just fall off but with Spike I had remained the same weight that I was the day after he was born.  I think the sheer amount of calories I was eating through chocolate were counteracting my bodies natural ability to shed baby weight and now that I am not binge eating every night it has started to get rid of the excess weight I was carrying.

I do still eat chocolate.  Yesterday I ate a Yorkie.  But I ate one Yorkie not three and I enjoyed it.

I love my Slimpod and I know that I may need to re-listen to it in the future if I start to slip but for now I am able to go to sleep without headphones in and still not binge on chocolate every day.
