Review – CEWE Photobook

Written by Lauren. Posted in Gift Ideas, Reviews

As you may have noticed I take A LOT of photographs, it annoys me when the Hubby has to be prompted to take photos so figured if I started Spud off young then he wouldn’t annoy his wife in years to come!  We gave him a little children’s camera for his birthday after he spent most of his time filling the hard drive of my phone and I was struggling for ideas on how to save his photos.  I decided that no matter how bad the quality or choice of subject it wasn’t fair to delete his photos and that I needed to make something to capture (see what I did there!) the memory of his first camera.

Cake & Jelly are a new Boutique offering children’s clothing and home textiles.  We are about to decorate the boys bedroom so was thrilled to be pointed in the direction of Cake & Jelly.  Founded by two sisters, with a passion for creativity and University Degrees in design, Cake & Jelly consists of gorgeous handmade pieces to decorate children’s bedrooms and playrooms across the land.  They had been struggling to find well made, affordable gifts for their relatives so Cake & Jelly was born to provide parents and children with attractive, bright, personal items.

Their range currently consists of drawstring bags, bunting, totes and felt badges all exquisitely made and gorgeous to boot.  Their range is expanding and ti shirts are on the horizon as well as many other exciting products.  You can browse their full range on their Website  or on their Etsy Store.  We are definitely going to be purchasing a drawstring bag and bunting for the Boy’s new room!

If you head over to the Cake & Jelly Facebook page and/or Twitter you will be the first to find out any news of upcoming releases!

Review – Memory Bunny

Written by Lauren. Posted in Gift Ideas, Reviews

The lovely Leanne at Handcrafted – Especially for you made us a gorgeous “Memory Bunny” to review.  The idea is, you send her your baby’s clothes that no longer fit and she crafts them into a keepsake soft toy.  It’s a lovely idea for keeping little pieces of clothing that you love and want to cherish.  Each one is unique to the customer and personalised as requested.

As I had kept all of Spud’s baby clothes and used them for Spike, there weren’t any key pieces other than their coming home outfits that reminded me specifically of either of them.  Due to this and the fact that they both have far too many toys, Leanne and I decided that we could personalise it for me to signify both boys.  I spent an age picking out clothes from the huge stack in Spike’s room and soon chose a huge pile.  I was probably Leanne’s idea of a terrible customer!  I was SO picky, I wrote a list of what I wanted where and how I wanted it and she took all my ideas on board and created something magnificent.

When the Memory Bunny arrived I was stunned.  It was extremely surreal because I recognised all the fabrics but it was really hard to picture them in their former glory as clothes! Because the Bunny was going to be mine I had requested to have both boys names and dates of birth on it’s feet which were hand embroidered and placed sewn on to plain fabrics to ensure that they stand out.

It has a superb finish and if I was going to give it to one of the boys I would have been satisfied that it was safe to do so and that no stitching would come undone or stuffing be lost.  Unfortunately for them it is going to sit pride of place on my dressing table!

I did not receive any financial reward for writing this review. However, we did receive the product for review purposes. This post is my own honest opinion. For more information please see our Disclosure Policy.
