As soon as I found out I was pregnant I knew I wanted to have professional photos taken of Dot. Before officially telling anybody that I was pregnant, I approached a photographer to get a rough idea of price only to be told that she would do a bump shoot and newborn shoot for free as she needed the experience and the exposure. I was over the moon and even more so a few months later when she introduced a “bump to one” package and offered it to me so she had an example of it for her portfolio. It basically meant that I would have the bump and newborn shoots but also one at 6 months and a year.
When we were asked to style up festive party outfits I excitedly rushed to the Florence and Fred website to spend my £50 voucher. Sod’s law being what it is, everything I wanted was out of stock in all three children’s sizes. I did find a gorgeous dress for Dot that I styled with some extremely cute Reindeer slippers but with £35 left to spend I decided to think outside the box.
Dot is nearly 6 weeks old and has been exclusively breast-fed since birth. I’m not going to lie breastfeeding is one of the hardest things I have ever done. Dot has always been unsettled and I’ve literally had to prise her off me and shove her at the hubby to try to pacify her to give me 5 minutes just so that I can fulfil my basic human needs.
She’s a lot more “clingy” than the boys ever were and appears to be windy/uncomfortable/in pain for most of the day. I’m lucky if she goes more than two hours between feeds and even luckier if in that time she’s quiet or asleep. At night we always get a least one 3-4 hour sleep but often it takes a whole evening of cluster feeding to get her to the point of tiredness that she actually falls asleep.
