It’s easy to inject a little summer style into your home without having to spend a fortune. Just a few tweaks and carefully chosen pieces of furniture can make a real difference to a room without breaking the bank. Take a look at a few suggestions on how to bring a little sunshine into your home:
Bring a little summer into your living area with a few colourful cushions, perhaps even some new curtains in a lighter hue than your thick winter ones. Accessorize with vases full of beautiful seasonal flowers and you’ll instantly feel more summery as soon as you see them.
Another great place for a vase of beautiful flowers is right in the middle of the table. Add to that a bright table runner and mats, maybe even some bright seat cushions if you have wooden chairs, and you have the perfect summer look for your dining room.
Perhaps buy a few kitchen accessories in lighter colours, or buy those pretty pastel plates you’ve had your eye on. If you will be eating in the garden a lot this year, why not invest in some brightly coloured melamine tableware, or even a gorgeous picnic basket.
In the lighter months you might want to invest in a blackout blind or curtains for the kids’ bedrooms. There’s nothing worse than a child convinced it’s not bedtime because it’s still light outside, after all! So make sure you aren’t subjected to any unnecessary bedtime battles by ensuring you have them on hand when the clocks go back each year. Maybe treat the kids to a new duvet and pillow set to reflect their current interests – there are lots of great ones to be had from Dora the Explorer and Thomas the Tank Engine to Monster High and Spiderman. You can even coordinate with matching wall stickers.
Your bedroom can easily reflect the summer months with the addition of some great new bedroom furniture, perhaps in a lighter colour (why not to a look at the ASDA bedroom furniture range for some great value pieces that wont break the bank) to lighten up the feel of your room. Add a gorgeous new bed set, maybe in a tropical print or a pretty pastel shade, along with some new cushions (and don’t forget the curtains to match of course) and you can completely change the look of your bedroom. A few new pictures on the walls and some pretty new accessories on the bedside tables or the dressing table will complete the look.
Needless to say it’s very easy to update the look of your home for summer and you really don’t have to go all out with new wallpaper or paint on the walls. The addition of wall stickers in a child’s room, or a new bedspread in yours makes all the difference. Plus, you can never have too many flowers around the house at this time of the year. A few little tweaks and your home will look blooming beautiful!
