I really am a bag and shoes kind of girl so when Pink Lining asked me to review for them I jumped at the chance especially after seeing the introduction of Purple Dragonflies into their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection. When the Mama et Bebe Messenger arrived I was like a kid at Christmas. Having owned a Yummy Mummy and Poppins from Pink Lining, I was keen to see how the Mama et Bebe shaped up.
The Pink Lining Mama et Bebe Messenger has all of the standard Pink Lining features including –
Shocking pink, water resistant lining Adjustable shoulder strap Padded changing mat Wet bag Insulated bottle pockets Nappy pockets Phone pocket Zip pocket Detachable mirror Key fob Pen holder
To set it aside from the rest it has two external pockets on the front donning the Mama et Bebe slogan and appliqué. After giving the Mama et Bebe a quick once over I gathered all of the bits that I need to take out with me and Dot and started loading the bag. I did find that as a messenger the Mama et Bebe is longer and thinner than some other changing bags and with the changing mat in the middle it limits the space for getting things in and out. Saying that I did manage to fit my purse, iPad, keys and body spray in along with the basic baby bits – nappies, wipes, spare clothes, muslin etc in. I really like the external pockets, especially when the bag is hanging underneath my pushchair as I can put essential items such as keys and dummies in an easy to reach area.
I adore this bag, the quality is fantastic and it’s a lot prettier than the bag that matches my pushchair. My only negative would be the insulated bottle pockets. Breastfeeding means I don’t need to take any bottle paraphernalia out with me so they waste quite a lot of space in the bag. I do put my body spray in one but they are quite fiddly to get your hand into should you want to stash smaller items in them. It would be really good if they were detachable for breastfeeding mothers or for when you your baby isn’t having as many bottles during the day.
The Pink Lining Mama et Bebe Messenger changing bag has an RRP of £79 and with it’s superior quality it’s definitely worth the money. The EVA laminated outer material makes it extremely hard wearing and you can simply wipe it clean with a cloth or wet wipe. The changing mat is fab. So often changing mats that come with bags turn out to be really thin and definitely not comfortable for the baby but the Pink Lining one is nicely padded and is a good length for growing babies. When you fold it up it holds its shape really well and doesn’t budge when you put other things into the bag meaning it doesn’t scrunch up and get ruined. I think if I ever changed bags I would definitely take the Pink Lining changing mat with me!
