Most of my house looks like this
We live in a house supplied by the hubby’s job and when we move we have to give it back EXACTLY how we found it or they fine us big bucks. It’s pretty drab. We had decided when we moved in not to bother decorating or putting too many things on the walls because it was only meant to be a 6 month stay. Over 2 and a half years later we are still there with no signs of moving and I’m getting bored of the plain magnolia.
Money Supermarket lauched a room for improvement competition to show that a make over doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. We were sent £50 to decorate a room how we pleased. I opted for our bedroom as it’s my least favourite room of the house. Home make over shows always rattle on about how it should be a santuary especially for those with kids so felt that I should actually make a bit of an effort. We decided to do a photo wall above our bed and chose a “shabby chic” theme.
I popped to places like Dunelm Mill, the Range and even Sainsburys to get bits and bobs for the wall, out of £30 cash I came home with 6p.
To add a finishing touch to the rest of the room I popped to Next for this cushion (£12.99)
and found these pretty hooks (£4.99) in the Range. Our grand total was £47.92.
So here is our photo wall. It’s all pictures of the Hubby and I, which I LOVE because the rest of the house seems to have been inundated with pictures of cute babies and gorgeous toddlers. Our bedroom is now a room for us and our memories as a couple. I now love going in there for a bit of piece and quiet and it’s probably the prettiest part of my house!
Disclaimer – I was sent £50 to complete the room for improvement challenge. This is an entry into a competition to win £500 of B&Q vouchers.
