Guest Post – Summer Wishlist

Written by Lauren on. Posted in Miscellaneous

Light fabrics, bright colours, bold patterns and sunny accessories are amongst the must-haves of this summer. Before the crowds descend, head online or to your local high street to snap up the best offerings. On-trend favourite New Look has a fab range of pieces which are bound to become summer wardrobe staples. We’ve handpicked a selection of top-rated items which will look gorgeous this season.

Pastel brights

Pastel colours don’t have to look washed out, and instead can add an instant splash of colour to your outfit. Brighten things up by basing your outfit on a single pastel colour – this coral dress has a cute lace panel and a full layered skirt. Dress it up for a night out with gold strappy sandals and a clutch bag. Or, if pink is too girly for you this mint green dress is a fresher take on pastel tones. The dip hem has a mid-length front and full length back – perfect if you don’t want to show off too much flesh. The high neckline would look great layered with a chunky necklace.

Patterned trousers

Patterned trousers make a casual outfit instantly stylish, or provide a fun twist to your work wardrobe. These blue floral print trousers have a navy base colour which is slimming on the leg, and are lifted by the flowery print – a classic for the summer months. For a relaxed look, team with a loose white cami and leather sandals. For something a little smarter, choose these black paisley print trousers with a turn up hem. These look chic enough to wear for work, and can be matched with a long-sleeved black blouse and black leather bag for the office.

Summery swimwear

If the weather is hot and sunny you may be spending lots of your time in swimwear on the beach. The Aztec trend is huge this summer so why not show it off in the most summery of items – a bikini. This bandeau bikini top mixes bold Aztec prints with animal designs in a colour palette of pink, blue, orange and yellow. Or, if you prefer a little more coverage on the beach, go for a swimsuit instead. This khaki number showcases the fringing trend, with its beaded tassle detail, and features cut out panel detailing on either side, which slim and elongate the torso.

Sun protection accessories

You can use accessories to jazz up your look, and protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays. To get that A-list look choose the darkest sunnies with black frames. These cateye sunglasses have a sleek shape and are embellished with bling diamantes. Or why not go retro with these chocolate leopard sunglasses, whose shape is inspired by the iconic retro Ray Ban frames. Finally, if you’re going to get hot, get a hat! This peaked denim cap will shield your eyes from the sun and can help protect against nasty sunstroke. Co-ordinate with denim hotpants, a plain tee and hi-top plimsoles for a cool ‘80s vibe.
