The one problem that we face on a day to day basis is where to store the Boys wooden train sets. We don’t have the space for a big fancy train table and I like to keep all the pieces in one place so bits don’t get lost. Big Jigs have come up with the perfect solution. The Big Jigs Railway Station Carry Set offers a fantastic track with railway building which transforms into a brilliant carry case to store all of the pieces. When Harry at Timeless Toys asked Spud and Spike to review the Big Jigs Railway Station Carry Set they were thrilled!
When it arrived we set to work putting it together. There are 40 pieces including track, trains, passengers and trees to get imaginations running wild. I followed the picture making sure that I laid out the track precisely but the beauty of it is you can set it up however you like making different track shapes for different adventures. With it being so easy to connect all the pieces I can leave Spud and Spike to build their own tracks and pack it away themselves whilst I get on with other things.
The Big Jigs engine and carriages are a lovely size for little hands and are flawlessly finished with magnets enabling them to “stick” together. Again the engines and carriages are also compatible with other brands. Spud had a 30 carriage long train the other day!
Everything packs nicely into the carry case and although it does become quite heavy both Spud and Spike can pick it up. I am however storing it on a low shelf because I can imagine it would hurt if it landed on toes!
Overall the Big Jigs Railway Station Carry Set is extremely sturdy and well made. Every single piece, including the people and trees are finished brilliantly but I am worried that the paint may start to chip if played with a lot. It has some lovely details on and being compatible with other brands of wooden railway we are able to add it to our Brio and our Ikea sets.
The Big Jigs Railway Station Set retails at £44.99 and is a worthwhile investment, the boys get hours of play from their wooden railways and it’s one of the only toys that they play nicely with together so it is worth it’s weight in gold!
