The Curious Case of the Shrinking TV
A couple of years ago the Hubby got promoted at work and decided to treat himself with a new TV. A 50 inch plasma to be precise. I had my reservations, we didn’t exactly live in a very big house so a whole 50 inches would no doubt dominate the room. It was his treat to himself for his hard work so who was I to argue. It arrived a few weeks before he went away with work and it didn’t look that bad but it was still a big shock after being used to a mere 32 inches. But then his new TV stand arrived. One thing I will never forgive him for. At the time Spud was 15 months and I was just pregnant with Spike we were going to have little hands in our house for years to come but for some reason he thought it would be a good idea to buy a black glass stand. A black glass stand that attracts dust as soon as you have polished it and shows every single fingerprint. It is constantly covered in hand prints no matter how many times a week that I clean it.

A few months later we encountered a problem. Darren’s job moved us down south and into a tiny house. The living room fits all the necessary things in but is a 50 inch TV necessary? It made it very hard to arrange the room and dominated the whole house. Luckily after 12 months of living here the Hubby got itchy feet. Suddenly our TV wasn’t the latest technology. LED and 3D TV’s had come onto the market and were suddenly affordable. Every time we went near a shop that sold TV’s he would stand there like a kid staring into the window of a sweet shop. After months of nagging he decided that the only way around it would be to presuade me to part with any money would be by shipping me off the my parents house where I couldn’t stop him from selling the big 50 inch TV. Within two days of me leaving he went on the search for cheap TV’s and found a 40 inch LED TV for the same price that he could sell our 50 inch for. How could I say no?! And the best bit, we need a new TV stand!
