It has been a while since part one of “Spud & Spike’s 2011 – Part 1” but it’s been extremely hectic here with all of us being ill, getting back into the school routine and the pressure that is Project 366!
So we got to June and the birth of The Wonderful Adventures of Spud & Spike. At first I started just blogging about what the boys and I got up to and included reviews of products that I already had for the boys, like my beloved Easywalker Duo. I started reviewing for companies and received some absolutely brilliant products from Teething Bling, MAM, Pourty and CoolFans.
At the beginning of July we were chosen to be QuinnyCasters for the Quinny Senzz only to be told two days later that the Senzz would no longer be available in the UK. We were promised something even better as long as we could be patient. Pushchair testing didn’t have to wait too long because we were chosen by MumPanel to test the Mamas and Papas Urbo and then announced as a Pushchair Trader Guest Tester! We went on our holidays to stay with Nana and Pops whilst the Hubby worked. The boys and I went on the train for a 3.5 hour journey which was an experience and a half! July also saw some more fab products being reviewed by us as well as a fantastic opportunity from Huggies when they asked Spud to take part in their Potty Training challenge. He also got invited to London to star in their brand new Potty Training videos and he was an absolute poser and had the Huggies team wrapped around his little finger. A few days after the Huggies Shoot I left my babies and went to the Soho hotel for the Hitachi Touro Pro ET Event and to top July off we had a brilliant day at Legoland in Windsor.
The beginning of August was spent at Nana’s and Pops’ house with a trip for me and Spud to Lollibop and a photo shoot in Hyde Park with Danielle Owen. I lost 11lb with Thinking Slimmer by curing my chocolate addiction and took the dreaded train journey home for the arrival of the Mamas and Papas Urbo and the Maxi Cosi Elea for testing. We got cracking with Spud’s potty training and he shocked us all by taking to it like a duck to water. At the end of August we drove up to my parents house and then across to the Hubby’s parents for his sisters wedding in which Spud was a page boy. It was a fab day and night, the boys went home with their Nan so the Hubby and I had some brilliant, drunken, child free time.
September started with the Hubby going back home without us because we had yet more events in London. We went to a private screen of the Winnie the Pooh movie with Huggies at Disney HQ and then to Postman Pat’s 30th Birthday Party. The highlight of September has to be meeting Elmo. Even though Spud probably won’t remember the experience but it was one of the best things that I have ever done. It was so surreal and I am ever so grateful to Hasbro for the invitation. After a fun packed few weeks we headed back home and back to normality with Spud starting back at Creche and us all getting some routine back into our lives!
October was packed with some more great products for us to review and a trip for Spike and I to the Baby Show in Earls Court. We met some of the companies that we had been dealing with since the start of the Blog and it was so nice to put faces to names and thank them in person. Spike spent most of the time asleep so I could show off an angelic baby that was quite content with being sat in the pushchair for hours! I did take my Nan with me so it was really nice to have a day with her as well as have her there to deal with Spike whilst I spoke to people. After being inspired by everyone at #playfest on Twitter, we finished October with our first Halloween party . Every Tuesday since my Blog has started I go to a Twitter Party run by Izziwizzikids.co.uk where I have been extremely lucky to meet some brilliant people and video review some really cool products.
November was a relatively quiet month bar a trip to Stamford Bridge for the Hubby’s birthday and a bunch of great products to review. We geared up for Christmas and finalised our plans and it saw Spud & Spike’s 12 Days of Christmas feature and the launch of our amazing competitions.
December was total madness. The 1st is our Wedding Anniversary from then on it is crazy. We got told that we would be testing the Quinny Moodd for the QuinnyCaster so to expect a shiny new pushchair early in the new year. We put our decorations up and had Christmas party after Christmas party and the boys Nativity play. After weeks of early wake ups we decided to try and take Spud’s dummies away so he took them to Santa for the Baby Elves to use. It was my 25th birthday and then we made the trip down to stay at Nana and Pops’ house. I had a bit of a Blog break over Christmas which turned into a 3 week break after I came down with a horrible bug and just couldn’t concentrate on anything. We had a brilliant Christmas and Spike turned 1 so it was hectic to say the least. They stayed with Nana and Pops for a few days whilst the Hubby and I came home and had a huge clear out ready for the New Year.
All in all it was an amazing year, I am so grateful for the opportunities we have had bestowed upon us. I have met some fantastic people from brands to Bloggers to people that I now would call my friends. I never knew that setting up an online diary for my parents to read would take off like it has and I am extremely grateful to the people that have taken the time to read our posts and leave their comments. Here’s to 2012!
