Review – Aldi: Lacura Skincare

Spend a little, live a lot

With our recent Budget Busting we have been searching around for the best deals.  My skincare products have gone from pricey premium brands to supermarket own which aren’t that bad but with my sensitive skin I have found myself buying many different types and spending the same money I would have spent on the premium stuff.  When Aldi offered me their beauty range to review I was a little sceptical but decided to give it a whirl especially when I saw that in a recent survey that it fared better than brands such as Boots No7 which I have used in the past.

When my box of goodies arrived I was very surprised.  I expected fairly plain “cheap” packaging because I knew the recommended retail price of the products but every product had attractive premium looking packaging.  From the skincare range I received the Lacura Shimmering Day Cream, Lacura Q10 Night Cream and the Lacura 3 in 1 Facial Cleansing Wipes.

“Lacura products are carefully formulated with the finest ingredients to provide the perfect daily skincare routine.  You can trust Lacura to gently care for your skin as each product is dermalogically tested.”

I don’t trowel my make up on but I do wear a fair bit of eye shadow and use a lot of bright colours so cleansing wipes are a must otherwise I wake up with all sorts of odd colours smeared across my face.  Like wet wipes I have found that cleansing wipes differ greatly from brand the brand and more importantly in price.  The Lacura 3 in 1 Facial Cleansing Wipes are fragrance free,  alcohol free and gentle on sensitive skin I pulled a wipe out and found it to be thick and textured as well as nice and soft.

The Lacura 3 in 1 Facial Cleansing Wipes are just the right “wetness” and removed all of my make up effortlessly.  Because of the textured surface I felt like it actually cleaned my skin and from the colour of the wipe afterwards i’m pretty sure that’s exactly what it did.  I was able to do my whole face with only one wipe and it didn’t dry out.  At only 89p (YES THAT’S RIGHT – 89p!) for 30 wipes they are absolutely fantastic value for money.

Next up I tried the Lacura Shimmering Day Cream.  It is made with Pro-Vitamin B5, DEFENSIL (a special complex which will help condition and protect sensitive skin) and Botanical Oils.  It contains light pigments which give the skin a silky-shimmering effect meaning the skin tone will appear more even and look more radiant.  It is a 50ml pot priced at only £1.99 so I was pleasantly surprised that it was a non greasy cream and it didn’t leave me reaching for the towel after I had applied it.  Underneath my foundation it made my skin appear refreshed and at toddler group a comment was made about how “well” I looked (I’m never sure how to take comments like that!)

Now a lot of people buy only one moisturiser but I know the importance of Night Cream.  It is much richer than a day moisturiser for a more intense moisturisation during the night.  The Lacura Q10 Night Cream has a Retinol Complex, Avocado Lipids and Coenzyme Q10 for the reduction of wrinkles and revitalisation of skin.  The combination of these ingredients help to slow the skins aging process by stimulating cell growth, regulating cell division and promoting the energy supply of the skin to help rejuvenate it and improve suppleness.  At only 24 I wouldn’t consider myself to need an anti wrinkle cream but I take good care of my skin and want to prevent early signs of aging especially as a wearer of make up.  At only £1.99 for 50ml it doesn’t break the bank and will buy me a few more years of not complaining about little lines appearing!

Lastly I received the Lacura Concealer Pen.  With two babies that take it in turns to wake up either in the middle of the night or very early in the morning I am prone to dark circles under my eyes so this light reflecting cream concealer helps to balance out my skin tone for a more balanced complexion.  With it’s “Natural Moisturizing Factor” (NMF) it uses ingredients like amino acids, urea and alantonim for soft supple under eye skin.   You put the correct amount onto the soft brush with the push of a button enabling effortless application.  It is smudge proof and suitable for all skin types, covering all skin impurities.  It can even be used as an eyeshadow base for smoother application of colour.  As a user of  Touche Eclat I am always a bit wary of similar products but this was fab!  At only £3.49 it is hard to believe that people actually fork out £20+ for essentially what is the same product!

All 4 of these products are amazing, I never would have thought that sitting in the aisles of Aldi were extremely affordable premium quality beauty products.  I definitely know where I will be stocking up for my skincare routine in future.

I did not receive any financial reward for writing this review. However, we did receive the product for review purposes. This post is my own honest opinion. For more information please see our Disclosure Policy.
