Spud loves cooking and baking so we were delighted to be asked to review two products from Renshaw’s new home baking junior range.
We received Funky Flavoured Sugardough and Magic Melting Icing, both of which came in bright, eye catching packaging complete with a picture of Flossie Crums from the children’s baking adventure series. Nana and Spud set to work baking some cupcakes. I love watching them cook or bake together, it’s brilliant quality one on one time and they have an awful lot of fun! The Magic Melting Icing is 100% naturally blackcurrant flavoured with real fruit juice and the gorgeous smell hits you as soon as you open the lid. It is popped into the microwave for 50 seconds and becomes a lovely easy pour consistency. It hardens smoothly so when you remove the cake case it isn’t runny and sticky it simply stays solid on top of the cake.
The Funky Flavoured Sugardough is 100% naturally coloured and flavoured and comes in Strawberry Tart, Chunky Chocolate, Lemon Sherbert and Orange Pip flavours all of which were strong and tasted lovely. I was a bit worried because the packets seemed quite solid but they kneeded into soft, pliable, easy to use balls of sugar paste. Nana and Spud used cutters to make flower shapes but it was very easy to use to make shapes and models freehand.
Both the Magic Melting Icing and the Funky Flavoured Sugardough helped to make the decorating quick and easy as well as fun. Spud loved tasting them all and added them together to make great flavour combinations. They also resulted in some extremely fancy looking cakes!
Overall Nana and Spud had great fun with two quick, easy, convenient products. Children don’t want to waste time making things from scratch especially at Spud’s age so at only £1.99 for the Magic Melting Icing and £2.49 for 4 blocks of Funky Flavoured Sugardough they are excellent value for money. We made 24 cupcakes and had a lot of both products left over.
