Today we were lucky enough to be invited to Vue Cinemas in Westfield to help Postman Pat celebrate his 30th Birthday! I have never been to Westfield before so was probably as excited as Spud was about seeing Postman Pat.
We met up with Liz and Munchkin from The Hart of the Munchkin Patch and Danielle and Mark from Blog by Baby after a trek through the huge shopping centre and excitedly made our way up to Vue. We arrived shortly after the event started and were thrilled to be greeted by the Birthday boy and Jess the cat. Spud was very excited to see Postman Pat but was a little unsure about getting too close to him and having our picture taken but we just about managed to get a good one!
We went to explore the rest of the event and were given a gorgeous fairy cake and some juice to start us off.
There was a balloon artist that promised unlimited balloons, a face-painter and lots of arts and crafts on for the children to do (all Pat related of course!) After completing all of his crafts it was time for Postman Pat to cut his cake. Spud has just discovered the joys of singing so was very enthusiastic about the Happy Birthday song.
After Postman Pat blew out his candles we all went into the cinema for a special screening of three Postman Pat episodes from the Happy Birthday Pat DVD. They chose all three of Spud’s favourite episodes so after a speech from Postman Pat, including the big revelation that there will be a Postman Pat Movie, we sat down with popcorn and watched Postman Pat and the Greendale Rocket, Postman Pat’s Pirate Treasure and Postman Pat’s Great Big Party.
After an absolutely brilliant birthday party we left with a very generous goodie bag, which made Spud a very happy little man, to go and have a wander around Westfield. We popped into the huge Disney Store where I told him he could spend his pocket money and he chose a wheelie bag. I was a bit reluctant but he was adamant that the bag was what he wanted. He has become obsessed with wheelie bags recently and I couldn’t work out why. Until we got home. He showed his Pops his wheelie bag and then ran off to the study and collected Pops’ work bag which is also on wheels. He was determined that Pops had to play with him and their matching wheelie bags and said “Bye Mummy I go work!”
Thank you very much Postman Pat for inviting us to your birthday party, we had a fab day and hope that you did to! Many happy returns!
